The 11 different colors on the ball represent the 11 official languages of South Africa, the 11 diverse South African communities that exist throughout the country, and the 11 players on the pitch. About adidas The vision of company founder Adolf Dassler has long become reality, and his corporate philosophy the guiding principle for successor generations. The idea was as simple as it was brilliant. Adi Dassler’s aim was to provide every athlete with the best possible equipment. It all began in 1920, when Adi Dassler made his first shoes using the few materials available after the First World War. The adidas name dates back to 1948, deriving from the first two syllables of Adi Dassler’s first and last name. One year later, Adi Dassler registered the Three Stripes as a trademark. After a period spanning almost 70 years, the Dassler Family withdrew from the company in 1989, and the enterprise was transformed into a corporation ("Aktiengesellschaft"). French-born Robert Louis-Dreyfus was Chairman of the Executive Board from April 1993 to March 2001. It was he who initiated adidas’ flotation on the stock market in November 1995. adidas--a name that stands for competence in all sectors of sport around the globe. Today, the adidas product range extends from shoes, apparel and accessories for basketball, soccer, fitness and training to adventure, trail and golf.

Great Soccer Ball June 7, 2010 J. Carr (Michigan) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I got this ball to replace another Adidas soccer ball that I had for 3 years. That ball had lots of playing time from spring to fall each year. After a few pickup games, the guys feel this ball is just as great for play. I can tell it has the same quality make as the old one. It does scuff a bit, but I'm guessing that shouldn't last long once it is broken in. The World Cup design looks cool. I expect to get many years of play with this one.
solid soccer ball May 21, 2010 J. B. Yunits (San Francisco, CA) 2 out of 12 found this review helpful
i don't know much about soccer, but we just got this ball and so far it's been top notch.
nice ball April 9, 2010 M. Reed (Missouri) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The ball plays nice, but scuffs very easily. Actually, it's a bit slick until it's scuffed, and then it plays better.
Not as good as 2006 July 6, 2010 mumto4boys (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ball is well made but of poor material. The quality of the material is cheaper than before and thus it scuffs easily.
Overall a good purchase. A little flavour of the World Cup for a reasonable price.
Not round. August 3, 2010 Matt Hurt 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These items are stored and shipped half inflated, which creates problems such as the ones that leak air or the one that mine has that is not round. The ball has a definite wobble to it when I kick it. I tried to pump it up and leave it for a few days but it didn't help. Adidas guarantees stitching and shape for 2 years so not sure if they will fix it or if I will have to return to amazon.
Either buy a more expensive ball (they ship those to you fully inflated) or buy an inflated one from a local store, that way you can inspect the item (i.e. kick it around the store) before you buy it.
